Overview
This project I created purely out of my fascination with patterns. Geometric motifs are everywhere around us. So I wanted to create a few original designs to form a collection of patterns for wide use - in branding, stationary, textiles, home decor, packaging, and other.

The challenge was not only to create new pattern designs, but also to make them work as a cohesive collection. This required lots of sketching - free-hand, without any sources of inspiration in front of me. The result is a collection of contemporary geometric repeat patterns.

Initially, I was inspired by something I've never paid attention to - hatches! They were everywhere and featured a variety of patterns. After taking a few photographs, I started developing my own geometric patterns, letting my mind drift away and exploring various shapes. I continued experimenting in Adobe Illustrator, developing sketches into repeat patterns. What goes to the color scheme, I looked for colors to remind me of a holiday by the sea and came across the photo with the stunning view of Viannos, in Creta. The triangular and square motifs in combination with the bold colors create a vibrant, contemporary look.
